Maharashtra Chief Minister supports Big FM’s ‘Green Ganesha’ campaign

Indian network 92.7 Big FM’ s Green Ganesha campaign to celebrate the annual festival dedicated to the Hindu deity Ganesh earned support from the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadavnis for the second year in a row.

The campaign, in its ninth year, encourages people to use eco-friendly material like papier-mache to make models of the deity instead of plaster-of-Paris.

In a press conference held to flag of the eco-friendly initiative, government dignitaries including Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam and Environment Minister for State Praveen Pote shed light on the importance of ecological practices during the Ganesh festival.

Tarun Katial, CEO, Reliance Broadcast Network Limited, and actors Jackie Shroff and Annu Kapoor were also present at the occassion.

The station also began its on-ground newspaper collection drive, through which tons of newspapers will be shared with some renowned sculptors who will convert them into beautiful and artistic eco-friendly Ganesha idols.

Speaking about the initiative, a spokesperson from BIG FM said: ” We are proud that this initiative has gained so much popularity over time, and the fact that it is helping us create a green environment for our future generations.”

The campaign will span across 14 major cities including Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Goa, Sholapur, Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior, Surat, Baroda, Mysore, Tirupati, Vizag, and Mangalore.
