LiteFM raises RM60,000 for Autism Society

Malaysian station Lite FM’s breakfast team recently rallied its fans to support ‘Sunshine September 2015’, a campaign to raise funds for the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM).

NASOM is a non-profit organisation that provides support to assist people living with autism by helping them learn ways to lead a productive life.

The campaign kick started in September with the video of Umar Hasfizal, an autistic boy giving his honest rendition of Josh Groban’s You Raise Me Up.

The idea was to get 10,000 Facebook likes of the video through LiteFM’s Facebook page, and SuriaKLCC Group would match every single like with RM1.

The campaign received an overwhelming response with 10,000 likes garnered in three days.

At the end of the campaign, the video received 66,863 likes.

According to Aaron Pinto, Network Content Manager of Lite FM, Sinar FM and THR Gegar: “We are extremely happy to be part of this year’s Sunshine September as this is what LiteFM aspires to do, giving back to the community. The ultimate mark of success is to hit our target but thanks to all our thoughtful fans, we raised more than RM60,000. That’s six fold of target!”

The cheque handover will take place in November, in the presence of Steve and Shaz of the Lite Breakfast team.

Proceeds donated to NASOM will be used for their educational programmes which include mainstream school programme, early intervention programme and early intensive intervention programme.
