LiteFM DJs clean up 60-year old hoarder’s rat infested home

Last week, Steve and Shaz from Malaysian station LiteFM's breakfast show visited three of the biggest hoarders in the country to share their story and to offer to help declutter their home.

They were accompanied by Justin Cheah from the Kechara Soup Kitchen.

While the first two hoarders refused to clean up and reorganise their homes, the third hoarder – 60-year old Madam Lee, was more open and forthcoming about how she found herself in the condition she was in.

Her house was infested with leftover food, dirty clothes, unwashed pots and pans, with cats and cockroaches roaming around freely and hardly any space to move around.

“Nobody can help me and my knees are weak as I can’t bend them or stand too long,” Madam Lee explained.

She said she would love to live in a clean house if given a choice.

In the final episode of the mini-series, volunteers helped clean her house within two hours.

They scrubbed the floors, threw out rubbish, cleaned the ceiling and even provided her with a brand-new bed, mattress and sheets.

The four videos collectively accumulated over a million views and shares.

Justin Cheah stated in the comment section: “This is the first major break-through, we managed to clear out the living room where she normally sleeps and got her new the new bed set, stove, table etc. Definitely more to be done especially the make-over of the house but we take one step at a time, we need to see how will this turn out and most importantly Aunty CAN / MUST live in a hygienic manner regardless if she will continue hoarding again which we think she will.”
