Listeners shower Radio Misty with birthday gifts

 

Fans of North Bengal radio network Radio Misty 94.3 fm visited the studios bearing gifts from cakes to cuddly toys to celebrate the station’s sixth anniversary on Thursday.

Launched under Phase II of private FM licensing in 2007,  Misty broadcasts from Siliguri, covering much of North Bengal region and eastern Bihar state.

Dozens of listeners showered the station with birthday presents as it ran a special birthday programme at midnight to mark the occasion.

Nishant Mittal, Chief Executive Officer of Radio Misty said: “It has been wonderful and successful journey.  We started with the intention of giving listeners the best innovative content with a local feel. We have always tried innovative ways to connect listeners and we have got lot of affection from them.”

Radio Misty also runs another station under the same name from the town of Gangtok for the state of Sikkim.

Both regions covered lie close to India’s border with Nepal and Bhutan in the Himalayas.

Misty is the only FM station in India airing music and shows in five different languages namely Hindi, Bengali, Nepali, English and Bhojpuri.
