Interviewing workshop by Ben Williams at RadioAsia 2016

 

 

Ben Williams, Director, Beyond Broadcasting, UK, will conduct a workshop titled ‘Interviewing: The Heart of Talk Radio at RadioAsia 2016 conference in Beijing.

The 90-minute workshop will be held on the first day of the two-day conference featuring over 50 high calibre speakers who will be presenting many key developments and updates in international radio programming and bring new opportunities to participants to build new contacts and expand markets.

Williams has worked in TV, radio and online and was involved in some of the first multimedia productions at the BBC World Service.

Having worked in many different roles including presenter, editor, commissioner and project director, he has produced formats from one-minute bulletins to debates and documentary series across news, current affairs and sport.

He has also trained people at organizations large and small all over the world, and has authored a journalism training manual.

His workshop will focus on talking with people and conversation – the cornerstones on which compelling talk radio is built.

It will discuss how to we get the very best out of people and how to make sure you connect your interviewees as strongly as possible with your audiences to showcase the thoughts and views of guests.

This interactive workshop, involving role-playing and creative-brainstorming, will examine what makes an interview work, highlighting having genuine curiosity, looking for surprises, pulling apart what is meant by an ‘expert’ and the ‘do’s and don’t’s of interviewing’.
