Indian radio’s first feature film airs on BIG FM

A movie on radio?  One station claims to be the first!

On the occasion of Mother’s Day, India’s 92.7 BIG FM broadcast a two-hour feature film titled ‘Maa ke Aanchal Mein’ (In Mother’s Arms) across its Mumbai, Delhi and Kanpur stations.

A first on Indian radio, the movie, scripted by Neelesh Misra, emphasised the importance of girl child.

The film is about the journey of a mother, played by Tisca Chopra, who goes through hardships to educate her daughter against the wishes of her family.

Other cast members included Divya Dutta, Sachin Khedekar, Alok Nath, Himaani Shivpuri, Upasana Singh, Satish Shah child artist Sparsh Khanchandani.

Ashwin Padmanabhan, Business Head of Big FM, said: “We are confident that the film and its humble message will resonate with listeners across our stations.”
