WorldDAB has announced it will run a DAB+ session focused on radio's migration to digital at IBC 2019 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The session will be held on Monday.
Titled Radio distribution strategies for a connected world, the session will look at broadcast digital radio's place in the distribution mix, and offer recommendations and advice on how broadcasters can assess all digital distribution platforms to make informed investment choices today to safeguard broadcast radio for tomorrow.
The WorldDAB session will feature a number of notable speakers from across the radio industry, and address the following key topics:
- Radio's digital migration across Europe
- The value proposition of radio in a connected world
- Norway's multi-platform digital radio strategy
- Key considerations in planning a distribution network for the future
- Broadcast 5G trials
- The importance of metadata for radio's future in the car
- Planning a distribution strategy for the future

Speaking ahead of the session, WorldDAB Project Director Bernie O'Neill said: “Over the last year, DAB+ has made exceptional progress both in Europe and beyond, and this is reflected by the introduction of new regulations promoting the adoption of DAB+ digital radio. The aim of our session at IBC 2019 is to educate industry players on the digitisation of the radio industry across in Europe, highlight the potential and benefits of DAB+ digital radio, and provide some guidance as to how broadcasters and retailers can use DAB+ to bring new business opportunities to fruition”.
WorldDAB will host an information booth throughout IBC2019, with the latest DAB+ digital radios for the home and in-car on display. To celebrate the rise of digital radio in Europe and beyond, radio giveaways will also be taking place each day throughout the event.
