Humm FM’s Radiothon to bring smiles on 1861 kids’ faces on X’mas

Auckland’s only Hindi FM station Humm 106.2 FM’s ‘Christmas For Kids Radiothon’ is set to bring joy to 1861 less fortunate kids this festive season.

The campaign, which started on Thursday midday and was to end on Saturday midday was extended due to the overwhelming response from listeners till 6pm Saturday, making it a 54-hour Radiothon.

Hundreds of listeners walked through the doors of Humm FM with gifts for less fortunate kids.

While most of the gifts were from Aucklanders, some gifts came from as far away as Wellington and Melbourne.

The gifts ranged from little toys to bicycles and large stuffed toys. Three listeners contributed with 48, 50 and 100 gifts respectively.

The station received a total of 1861 gifts which will now be handed over to Auckland City Mission for distribution.

Breakfast host, Vijay Varma, drive show host Dev Sachindra and evening show host Roopam Chowdhury anchored the Radiothon for the entire 54 hours while breakfast show co-host Pooja Kumar joined the campaign bit later giving 35 hours and drive show co- host Sandy Sekhon joined the trio for 30 hours of campaign.

Humm FM Director, Satyan Prasad says: “Since Humm FM started four years ago, this campaign is the biggest achievement to date.”
