hitz fm returns with MET10 Awards

Astro Radio’s English language station hitz fm is all set to celebrate and honor Malaysian English artists who topped the weekly Malaysian English Top 10 (MET10) chart throughout 2015 at its MET10 Awards on January 16 in Kuala Lumpur.

Themed “Back in Time”, the three-hour extravaganza will bring together local artists from different generations.

To be organized in collaboration with Tune Talk, this year’s awards will see CEOs – Jake Abdullah of Astro Radio and Tune Talk’s Jason Lo co-hosting the show.

This marks a reunion for the two industry heavyweights after Lo’s departure from hitz fm in 2007.

Both Jake and Lo are currently hosting the MET10 chart show which airs every Sunday from 3pm till 4pm.

The awards will also feature performances by big names such as De Fam, Jin Hackman, Paperplane Pursuit and OAG.

This year’s categories include:

  3. MET 10 BEST BAND/GROUP
  4. MET 10 BEST SONG
  5. MET 10 BEST LIVE PERFORMER
  6. MET 10 BEST MUSIC VIDEO
  7. MET 10 BREAKTHROUGH ACT
  8. Hall of Famer/Artist of The Year (no nomination required)

 “MET10 Awards was launched a decade ago to celebrate the local English music scene, which I am pleased to see, grew to a great extent over the years. Homegrown artists such as Yuna and Zee Avi are no strangers to the international music arena while pop rock band Paperplane Pursuit has been making headlines recently for breaking into the Billboard Top 40 Indicator Chart,” said Abdullah, CEO of Astro Radio.

“We are extremely excited to bring back theMET10 Awards and we trust local music supporters will appreciate what we have lined up for them. And I have good news for fans who can’t be there physically. Listeners can either tune in to hitz fm or alternatively, stream it on RAKU. All they have to do is download the RAKU application and start listening to more than 20 live radio stations, playlists curated by local artistes including Yuna, Paper Plane Pursuit, Dasha Logan and many more,” he added.
