DAB+ workshop at ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2021

 

The ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium 2021 will take place from April 5 to 8. For the first time, it will be a wholly online event because of the ongoing global pandemic. Organised by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, the symposium is a leading event for broadcasters in the region and beyond. This year’s theme is Inspire, Engage & Enhance.

It will comprise a four-day conference with a total of 12 sessions, one workshop on each day and an exhibition also lasting four days. The conference sessions will focus on topics of strong interest to broadcasters. The topics include advanced technologies, business strategies, content security, AI and big data applications and digital radio rollout.

WorldDAB will host a DAB+ workshop during ABU DBS on Tuesday 6 April, at 16:10 – 17:10 MYT/ 09:10 – 10:10 GMT.

Workshop sessions and speakers include:

  • Welcome and DAB+ status in Asia Pacific region by Joan Warner, CEO Commercial Radio Australia and Chair, Asia-Pacific Committee, WorldDAB
  • DAB+ global update and the case for DAB+ by Patrick Hannon, President, WorldDAB and VP Corporate Development, Frontier Smart Technologies
  • DAB+ standards update by Lindsay Cornell, Principal Systems Architect, BBC Digital and Chairman, WorldDAB Technical Committee
  • WorldDAB Asia Pacific Technical Group and support to broadcasters in the APAC region by Dr Les Sabel, Chair, WorldDAB Asia Pacific Technical Group, and S-Comm Technologies
  • Getting DAB+ into cars by Ron Schiffelers, Senior Director Program Management, NXP Semiconductors
  • Solutions available for affordable DAB+ consumer receivers by Albert Tseng, CEO, Keystone Semiconductor Corp
