Boy band and HK actress confirmed for S’pore Awards

Hong Kong boy band Grasshopper are to be presented with an honoury award at the 2013 Singapore Hit Awards later this month.

The ceremony to celebrate the best in Chinese music is being put on by Singapore’s number one station Y.E.S. 93.3FM.

The three-piece group rose to fame after taking part in the territory’s New Talent Singing Awards in 1985.

They went on to have several Cantopop hits in the late 80s and 90s before splitting up.

Reunited in 2005, the trio regularly perform concerts around the world featuring their biggest hits.

Previously, they won three “Best Group” awards at Singapore Hit Awards between 1994 and 1996.

Besides Grasshopper, Hong Kong diva, Karen Mok will make her first appearance at the awards, where she is nominated for ‘Best Female Vocalist” and “Regional Outstanding Artiste (Hong Kong)”.

The ceremony takes place on November 22 at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Other artists attending include Hong Kong’s Julian Cheung Chi Lam, Denise Ho, Taiwan’s Wilber Pan, Alien Huang, Chou Hui, Bai Ann, William Wei, Magic Power; China’s Hu Xia; Malaysia’s Penny Tai and Singapore’s very own Joi Chua, Olivia Ong,Derrick Hoh, Serene Koong, The Freshmen, MICappella, Bevlyn Khoo and Ruth Kueo.
