Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan turns RJ

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan is going to be an RJ on India’s 93.5 Red FM on Thursday to promote his upcoming film ‘Shamitabh’.

Bachchan will host ‘All India Shamitabh Radio’ on the station all day long, making calls to listeners and on their behalf to deliver their messages.

The station will also give away ‘Shamitabh’ movie tickets and autographed merchandise during the show.

Famous for his deep baritone voice, Bachchan once auditioned to become a radio presenter in his younger days, but was rejected by All India Radio.

‘Shamitabh’, which has been directed by R. Balki also features actors Dhanush and Akshara Hassan and releases on Friday.

In the film, Bachchan reportedly lends his voice to Dhanush, who plays a deaf and mute actor.

While recording promotional bytes for the show he tweeted: “And doing some rather complicated RJ’ing for RED FM 93.5!! Goodness how do these guys manage it!! I am at a loss.”

Speaking about the association, Nisha Narayanan, COO, RED FM, said: “In an endeavour to bring our listeners closer to the legendary star, we planned this initiative. It will be interesting to see how listeners react when Mr. Bachchan interacts with them as an RJ.”
