BBC ties up with Myanmar national radio network

Further expanding its FM presence in Myanmar, also known as Burma, BBC World Service has signed a deal with Shwe FM network to air the BBC Burmese learning programme, English At Work.

This fun office-based drama will be broadcast by Shwe FM at 7.30pm local time on Tuesdays and repeated at 8am on Thursdays. 

The station reaches 98 percent of Myanmar’s population.

BBC Burmese Editor Tin Htar Swe says: “With the country opening up, many young people are keen to improve their language skills. We are delighted to deliver BBC Learning English lessons and thrilled to be expanding our reach through Shwe’s nationwide network”.

Nan Mauk Laun Saing, Chairwoman of Shwe FM, adds: “Our mission is to inform and educate, and we are very happy that the country’s youth can now improve their English by tuning in to BBC Learning English lessons on our network.”
