Astro Malaysia Q3 radio revenues up 15 percent

Quarter three revenues from Astro Malaysia’s radio stations grew 15 percent compared to the same period last year.

Figures released by the company show revenue climbed to US$19.8 million (RM 64 million) in Q3 2014, although slightly lower than Q2 where it posted $20.4 million (RM 66 million).

The company says its share of radio advertising in Malaysia (radex)  grew to 55 percent, a rise of more than 4 percent.

It stated that overall radio listenership dipped slightly from 12.3 million to 12.2 million compared to last year.

Those figures are based on surveys conducted on behalf of the commercial radio industry by Nielsen.

Overall, Astro achieved a revenue of $1.08 billion (RM3.5 billion) for the first nine months of the year, a 13 perecent increase compared to the same period last year.

EBITDA increased by 15 percent to $0.39 billion (RM1.26 billion).
