Asia Pop 40 announces Asia’s No. 1 Song and Artist for 2015

Asia’s first locally-produced, regionally-syndicated music chart programme has announced its awards for No. 1 Song and No. 1 Artist in Asia for 2015.

The annual countdown of the top 140 songs of 2015 on the Asia Pop 40 chart played-out on-air throughout January and was based purely on their ranking in the AP40 chart and the number of weeks they appeared during the year.

Grammy® Award-nominated and Brit Award-winning artist Ed Sheeran’s smash hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’ has been named as Asia Pop 40‘s Number One Song for 2015, whilst multi Grammy® Award-winning artist Taylor Swift has been named as Asia Pop 40‘s Number One Artist for 2015.

The Awards were announced on-air last weekend by Asia Pop 40‘s host Dom Lau.

Throughout January, Asia Pop 40 counted down the most popular 140 songs from 2015, over four weekly instalments.

Creator & Executive Producer of Asia Pop 40, Rob Graham, stated: “There was so much great music in 2015. Everyone at EON Media Group and Asia Pop 40 was very excited to honour Ed and Taylor in this way as they have been massive contributors to our chart over the past year.”

Graham added, “Ed Sheeran’s song Thinking Out Loud, written by Ed Sheeran and Amy Wadge, debuted on the Asia Pop 40 chart in October 2014. Since its debut, Thinking Out Loud never left the chart, spending a total of 62 weeks in the AP40.”

Taylor Swift received the Number One Asia Pop 40 Artist Of The Year Award mainly due to her hugely successful album 1989, from which six tracks found their way into the top 40 of the AP140 countdown.
