All India Radio announces new director general

R Venkateswarlu has been appointed director general of public broadcaster All India Radio.

He moves from the position of DG South Zone where he oversaw the running of all the stations in south of India.

With 35 years of media experience, Venkateswarlu has held several roles in the radio division as well as Prasar Bharati, the overall organisation behind both public radio and television in India.

He replaces Leela Dhar Mandloi, who has retired from the organisation last month after 37 years.
