988 FM’s feature film to usher in Chinese New Year

Malaysia’s Chinese language radio station 988 is ushering in the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Dog, with its first full-length feature film ‘A House Of Happiness’.

The film, which stars veteran Hong Kong actor Richard Ng and Ipoh-born Hong Kong-based actress Mimi Chu, was premiered at an event earlier this week.

Ng portrays Shui, an old ice-cream seller who suffers from Alzheimer’s. Chu plays his long-suffering wife.

It also stars 988 deejays Cheryl Lee, Sam Mak, Hau Min, Anson Kow, Jason Poon, Cassey Soo, Cynthia Tan, Sean Lee, Piao Min and Danny One.

DJ Cheryl, who co-hosts two shows with Poon, plays a gas tank delivery woman named Loh Sei Fung.

DJ Hau Min plays Summer, the younger version of Chu’s and has also written the lyrics to one of the film’s songs, Hui Jia Tuan Yuan (Reunion).

DJ Danny One, who is also a popular musician, composed Hui Jia Tuan Yuan, and also provides some comic relief in his supporting role.

The soundtrack of the movie can be found in 988’s latest CNY album 'A House Of Happiness 2018'.

The album is also available online and on major music streaming platforms.

The film is directed by JY Teng and written by scriptwriter-turned-director Ryon Lee (Show Me Your Love, My Papa Rich, The Dream Boyz).
