94.3 Radio One’s initiative to unite Indians

India’s 94.3 Radio One is launching a content initiative called ‘People United. India United’ to encourage people to focus on the things that make all Indians same and not the things that make them different.

The initiative will air in January 2018 and is being supported by a number of celebrities including Bollywood stars Aamir Khan, Vidya Balan and Irrfan Khan.

Anil Machado, Chief Content and Talent officer said: ‘This initiative will encourage people to forget their differences and focus on the common things that they can come together on. The content revolves around people who seem different at first when you look at their background or religion or caste but then  you see that they do things that are common and for the good of the country. So there will be teachers, doctors, scientists of different religions and socio- economic backgrounds but who come together to meet their combined contribution to Indian society.  This sends a strong message of unity and harmony. We will amplify the content to peak on January 2h – India’s Republic Day.”

The station's in-house band called #TheRadioOneBand has created a special original song and video called ‘ We’re Just People…United ’ to spearhead social media promotion.

Vineet Singh Hukmani, MD & CEO of 94.3 Radio One said: ‘Our upscale educated audience has the power and spirit to come together and give initiatives like this the wings it needs. We are happy to innovate with a powerful message of unity and harmony in the coming new year.”
