11th ABU Digital Broadcasting Syposium to ‘enable change smartly’

The 11th ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium will be held from March 2 to 6 in Kuala Lumpur with the theme ‘Enabling Change Smartly’.

It will address how broadcasters could secure spectrum for future broadcasting while making use of latest opportunities in Over-The-Top (OTT) and Integrated Broadband Broadcast (IBB) services.

The various sessions of the symposium will address issues related to the diversity of media audience, UHDTV new delivery mechanisms and future transmission technologies.

On March 2, there will be a full-day workshop on DVB-T2: Technologies and Implementations.

It will be followed by a DBS workshop on March 3 and a DBS conference from March 4 to 6 along with a four-day DBS exhibition from March 3 to 6.

There will also be panel discussions on whether spectrum is essential for future broadcasting.

Some of the speakers at the conference include Eric Li Bin of Rohde & Schwarz, Lindsay Cornell of BBC-UK, Ruxandra Obreja of DRM, Alexander Zink of Fraunhofer and Poonam Sharma  of MediaGuru.
