Are Show Prep Services Making Jocks Lazy?

The following topic was submitted by Peter Whiting.

I believe todays jocks rely too much on other people doing their prep. E.G website humour stuff, things out of radio publications etc. You hear the same lame crap on every station. I think today’s jocks have lost the ability to be witty and use their own humour. No longer do you go through the papers and use your wit on an article or observe something funny during the day. Instead jocks given a piece of paper with someone else’s jokes on it.

Too many announcers wing their humour by relying on other peoples prep and it shows when jocks have to MC or host an event and they have forgotten how to be funny, witty and spontaneous.

I have heard of some stations only allowing their jocks 1 piece of show prep a shift to help them use thier grey matter and either learn to be witty or use your own research skills.

Comments? Have we become too reliant??
