Asia Podcast Awards 2025 Winners Spotlight: Best New Podcast

Pawspectives Petcast won two awards at the Asia Podcast Awards 2025 – Best New Podcast and Social Content Creator/Producer of the Year – Indie.

Hosted by Yen Teng Chow and produced by Baptiste Lejeune, it was created to give pet lovers in Southeast Asia a fresh, thoughtful, and culturally grounded approach to animal care.

After losing her senior dog, Euro, Yen Teng saw how many pet parents were hungry for reliable education yet overwhelmed by Western-centric advice, shallow content, or conflicting opinions online. She wanted to offer something different—a calm, intelligent, and emotionally attuned space where listeners could reflect on every dimension of caring for animals.

“From the start, I partnered with my producer Bap and recorded in his studio. That collaboration allowed us to focus on content and storytelling instead of technical hurdles, ensuring professional sound from day one,” says Yen Teng.

According to her, some of the unique features of the show are:

Live Demonstrations: Each episode includes a real-time demo—whether it’s pet massage, dog communication techniques, or a chiropractic adjustment—so listeners can see what they’re learning.

Diverse Guest Voices: Guests range from animal-welfare advocates and mobile dog-gym founders to acupuncturists and grief specialists—voices rarely spotlighted in mainstream pet media.

Emotional Depth: The show prioritises nuance and cultural relevance over quick tips or viral hacks, offering quiet authority instead of noise.

Social media has been the amplifier for everything that the show does. Instagram Reels, TikTok snippets, and YouTube Shorts turn its key moments into short, shareable stories that reach far beyond audio audience.

Yen Teng says: “We routinely repurpose live demo footage and expert soundbites into vertical videos, which consistently drive discovery and listener growth. Our community uses these platforms to comment, ask follow-up questions, and suggest new topics, making social media not just a marketing channel but an interactive extension of the show itself.”

Pawspectives Petcast has over a dozen original episodes and a steadily growing listener base across Southeast Asia. It receives heartfelt listener feedback describing how episodes influenced real-world pet-care decisions or helped them feel less alone during grief. Pet-care brands keen to create educational content also send collaboration requests.

For Season 2, the makers are planning to deepen storytelling with pet parents to capture more real-life journeys of love, loss, and care; build a stronger voice across the APAC region through cross-border collaborations and region-specific topics and launch interactive listener segments so their community can share stories, ask experts questions live, and help shape future episodes.
