A delegation from Voice of Vietnam (VOV), led by Deputy General Director Pham Manh Hung, held working sessions with broadcasters in Serbia and Croatia from June 29 to July 1 to discuss media cooperation, content exchange and digital transformation.
Radio Television of Serbia, with a 102-year history, and Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT), with a 100-year history, are among the most successful public broadcasters in the Balkan region and Europe. Both are pursuing innovation and digital transformation to meet the changing needs of the public, especially younger people.
During a meeting with Radio Belgrade on June 29, Zorana Bojičić, director of the station under Radio Television of Serbia, said the broadcaster is expanding its presence on social media and digital platforms as a growing share of the public, especially young people, now access information through online platforms.
She said the station has built strong production teams to develop podcasts for radio, television and digital platforms, with content focused on practical issues such as education, health and family, while political issues are presented from fresher and more practical perspectives.
At a meeting with HRT on July 1, Director General Robert Šveb said the broadcaster is also pursuing strong innovation across its platforms.
With strengths across radio, television and digital platforms, HRT continues to expand content distribution to online audiences, particularly younger users, with podcast and livestream formats playing a growing role.
During the meetings, Pham Manh Hung introduced VOV’s development and reform strategy, saying the national broadcaster is pursuing comprehensive innovation in content, format and management to meet new demands.
Hung said VOV is making strong efforts to reinforce its role as one of Vietnam’s leading media agencies, including expanding podcast content to reach digital users, particularly younger people, while also seeking digital transformation experience from international broadcasters and cooperation opportunities in content development and technology.
Leaders of broadcasters in Serbia and Croatia spoke highly of VOV’s achievements and said there is strong potential for cooperation in news exchange, sharing experience in socio-economic development and public governance, documentaries on history and tourism, as well as music and traditional cultural programming.
They said such cooperation would help the broadcasters expand their content while enabling people in Balkan countries to better understand Vietnam and vice versa, while also contributing to stronger diplomatic ties and tourism development. The parties also discussed journalist and technical staff exchanges for training and joint content production.
Both broadcasters expressed hope that official media cooperation documents with VOV would be signed soon. In the meantime, the exchange of news reports and programmes for broadcast and digital platforms will serve as a foundation for long-term and effective cooperation.
