After 5 years in Malaysia, Radiodays this year is taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The conference “pivoted quickly and efficiently to create an online offering” for those who want to watch the conference online after the eventful week in Jakarta. “Despite the challenges we are all here to celebrate accurate information and the future of audio,” said master of ceremonies Nessa McGann.
The Deputy Minister for Media Creativity, Agustini Rahayu (main picture) extended her sincere gratitude to Radiodays for choosing Jakarta after 5 years in Malaysia. She welcomed 250 participants from over 30 countries.
“Radio remains the most accessible medium, trusted for its credibility and its ability to reach people everywhere, including those with limited access to other forms of media,” said the Minister.
“Radio faces challenges from digital disruption and from disinformation. We are all living in an era when radio is adapting to many issues and new technologies. This event will inspire and empower us to shape the future of our industries.
“Indonesia’s creative economy is thriving. TV and Radio contributed billions of Rupia to the economy and helped drive innovation in new areas like podcasts.

“We are very happy to be here to celebrate radio, audio and podcasts here in Jakarta,” said Radiodays CEO Peter Niegel.
“Radio is one of the oldest and lost loved media in the world. We keep reinventing ourselves as we answer the needs of our audiences… it is our mission to explore new ideas and highlight the success stories as well as strategizing the possibilities for the future.
“Radio is holding its reach, but we need to reinvent ourselves and grow new opportunities. These are the things we will be exploring in our discussions over the next few days.”

The ABU’s Head of Radio Andrew Davies congratulated Indonesia’s national broadcaster RRI on its 80 year anniversary this year. “One of the great things about Radiodays is that we can come together from so many places to explore ideas and share information.”
Davies said one of ABU radio division’s priorities this year will be co-productions of collaborative podcasts.
