Asia Podcast Awards 2025: Meet the Finalists of Society and Culture category

From hundreds of entries, the judges have selected 80 Finalists across 23 categories in this year’s list.

Society and Culture is the biggest category and features eight finalists.

Mediacorp’s “Why So Serious” podcast, hosted by two presenters and supported by an editor, launched on August 10, 2022, and was refreshed in 2024. Part of the “vibes by 8world” initiative, this weekly podcast engages youths and young adults through candid, lighthearted discussions on entertainment, lifestyle and global trends.

 

 

Produced and presented by Chang Cheng Yao and Tan Li Yi, SPH Media Group’s “The Reading Room” is a bi-weekly Mandarin podcast. This may be the perfect fix for book lovers, who like to delve beyond the book and enjoy the anecdotes of life. The podcast makes it a priority to regularly feature Singaporean authors and publishers to showcase their literary works. Each episode typically starts off by sharing highlights from the book, followed by thoughts and life experiences of the presenters. The Reading Room hopes to provide platform to engage Chinese book lovers as well as writers and publishers.

ZYPRUP media’s “What Do I Know?” is a podcast created by award-winning actress Joanne Peh as a platform to serve a generation of women like her: women navigating the complex intersections of identity, ambition, motherhood, and partnership. Through intimate, thought-provoking conversations with guests from all walks of life, ranging from policymakers, public figures, and creatives to wellness experts, Olympic athletes, C-suite individuals and changemakers, the podcast explores what it means to grow, evolve, and find clarity in the in-between.

Mediacorp Singapore’s “Post, Love” was created to fill the dearth of love & relationship podcast content within Singapore and the region. It takes inspiration from popular titles such as Modern Love, and looks to appeal to women between the ages of 25 to 44; thereby allowing us to cover a broad spectrum of themes and experiences from first loves to marital strife.

 

Astro Radio Malaysia’s “Why Won’t You Love Me?” is a weekly podcast that dives into the highs and lows of modern love. Hosted by two real, relatable women, it’s all about honest conversations on dating, heartbreak, commitment, and everything in between. No sugarcoating, no judgment, just raw, real talk about what love feels like today. The show is aimed at young adults, mainly women aged 18 to 34, who are figuring out relationships in a fast-changing world.

 

“Love Matters” is a podcast produced by The Indian Express and DW, Germany’s international broadcaster, that explores love, sex, and relationships in India. Since the third season (October 2023), Love Matters has been available not only in audio but also in video format. Hosted by Leeza Mangaldas, India’s top sexuality educator, Love Matters features conversations with remarkable guests whose unique expertise and lived experiences are sure to strike a chord.

 

SPH Media’s “Breakfast Bites” is a compelling podcast that adds colour and personable chats to MoneyFM 89.3’s Breakfast show. From fun facts to new trends and cultural questions, each episode covers a wide range of topics that keep listeners informed and entertained. The podcast features updated numbers and research, engaging discussions, and practical advice.

 

“Morning Shot” is a segment presented by the Breakfast Show on MoneyFM 89.3. It delivers a daily dose of analysis on pertinent news and topical issues, featuring established global experts, including researchers, academics, industry stakeholders, and decision-makers. With an insightful mix of themes spanning environment, geopolitics, social, and business issues, this podcast aims to build greater awareness of issues that matter to Singaporeans.
