Pacific Multimedia Academy (PMA) in Fiji was officially launched on February 13, 2025, World Radio Day.
The Academy was proposed at the 2024 Pacific Media Partnership Conference in Brisbane.
It supports broadcasters from the Pacific Island countries acquire skills and knowledge to be on par with evolving technology and equipment.
PMA has formed a strategic partnership with the Fiji National University to deliver the following programs:
- Certificate IV in Broadcast Engineering
- Certificate IV in Film and TV production
Since its establishment, PMA has conducted a number of training programs which includes basic radio transmission for broadcast technicians, strategic management for broadcasters, drone certification training for TV and film making and MoJo training for journalists.
PMA is the hub of excellence in broadcasting for the Pacific region and was endorsed during the last ABU’s Pacific Media Partnership Conference hosted by Fijian Broadcasting Corporation (FBC) in Fiji in February this year.
FBC Strategic Development Manager Daniel Singh says this is a Pacific solution for media personnel in the region.
“We welcome strategic partnerships to further assist the pacific island countries in multimedia,” he adds.
