Saudi Arabia is top Asian winner at NYF Radio Awards

New York Festivals (NYF) Storytellers Gala announced the 2025 Radio Awards winners.

Exceptional storytelling and audio innovation were celebrated during the 2025 Storytellers Gala virtual event, highlighting the achievements of global creators in radio and podcasting.

Winning entries from 26 countries span podcasts and audiobooks, entertainment and music specials, dramas, documentaries, and breaking news coverage all created by some of the world’s most respected audio content creators.

Among Asian entries, Saudi Arabia led the winners. Its Aramco Media Production Division won three metals and two finalists. It won a Gold Tower in the Program Open Category for ‘Pure Energy – Eminem Special’, a Silver tower in the Music Program Category for ‘Pure Energy’ and a Bronze Tower in the Music Special Category for ‘Pure Energy – Eminem Special’. It won Finalist Diplomas in the Alternative Format Category for ‘Eclectica’; in the Music Special Category for ‘Eclectica – 1984 Revisited – 40th Anniversary Special’; and in the Station ID Category for Energy Radio 1 Station Sound.

Qatar’s Al Jazeera Digital won four awards. ‘True Crime Reports’ won the Gold Tower in the Mystery Podcast Category and the Bronze Tower in the Narrative/Documentary Podcast Category . ‘The Take’ won the Bronze Tower News Podcast Category and ‘Behind the Scenes of “The Opposite Direction”’ won the Finalist Diploma  in the Narrative/Documentary Podcast Category.

Radio Taiwan International had four winners. A Bronze Tower in the Special Report Category for ‘No Contraception, No Income?’ and three Finalist Diplomas – one in the News/Feature Category for ‘Valentine Day’s Collision’; one in the Human Interest/Feature Category for ‘Who Takes Care of Home Caregivers’; and one in the Biography/Profiles Category for ‘HKSAR V Jimmy Lai’.

Radio Television Hong Kong had three winners. ‘Reading by Moonlight : Xi Xi’s Marvels of a Floating City’ won a Silver Tower in the Audio Book Narration – Solo Category; ‘The But’s Family – Tomb Sweeping On-Air’ won a Finalist Diploma in the Children/Young Adult Program Category; and ‘Unsafe Heights: The Ongoing Toll of Industrial Negligence’ won a Finalist Diploma in the News Report/Feature Category.

Mediacorp Singapore took home two metals – a Gold Tower in the Narrative/Documentary Podcast Category for ‘Asian Tsunami anniversary – Part 1 and 2’ and a Bronze Tower for ‘Post, Love’ in the Culture and The Arts Podcast Category.

India’s Club FM had two winning entries. ‘Cinemakatha’ won a Bronze Tower in the Sound Category and ‘Rapist Mentality’ won a Finalist Diploma in the Social Justice Category.

UAE took home two Finalist Diplomas. National News won in the News Podcast Category for ‘Beyond The Headlines’ and Virgin Radio Dubai won in the Station Promotion Category for ‘Dubai Gives Back’.

South Korea’s BeFM picked up one Gold Tower in the Human Rights Category for ‘Fingertip Chef – Cooking My Life’.

All Entries in the 2025 competition were screened online by NYF’s Radio Awards international Grand Jury of 200+ producers, directors, writers, and other creative media professionals from around the globe and judged on the following set of criteria: production values, creativity, content presentation, direction, writing, achievement of purpose and audience suitability.

New York Festivals announced the NYF Radio Awards winning entries at the Storytellers Gala on May 22 in a virtual event that included global highlights, winners’ acceptance speeches and spotlights with some of the most respected storytellers.
