AUSTRALIA’S richest woman, Gina Rinehart, and former magazine chief Matt Handbury held secret discussions about buying Fairfax Media. The talks between the two first took place two years ago when Mrs Rinehart, the company’s largest shareholder, was growing increasingly frustrated with the falling share price and the way Fairfax chairman Roger Corbett was running the company.
